Happy New Year!!! Last night was a f’n blast. We rang in the new year at one of my favorite bars, Cadieux Cafe, a magical little spot in the middle of a residential neighborhood on the east side of Detroit Rock City. I lived a block from there in the 80’s, some of the best times of my life. Mike Skill’s band played, they were badass!!! Mike’s the guitarist for the Romantics, Detroit legends. And his band, a supergroup in my book, Brian McCarty on bass and Ricky Rat on guitar from the Trash Brats (Detroit legends as well) and Brad Elvis on drums. Old school east side Detroit rock ‘n’ roll. They crushed. I love how Mike was ear tuning his guitar on stage before they started, like we all did in the 70’s. I can’t live without my Boss TU-3 pedal tuner and Poly Tune clip tuner these days. 😂 Some young kids opened up, high school age, they were killer! Saw some friends I hadn’t seen in a long time, had an amazing time. Woke up at 7 a.m., it was dark outside, thought it was 7 p.m. and slept the day away! I can’t sleep for some reason. Happy New Year everyone. 2025 was kind of a rough year, for a lot of us. At the same time, it was a good year. Let’s hope 2026 is a better one. I feel good. I feel alive.
